In ancient times, fennel was revered as a magical potion. Roman warriors drank fennel tea believing it would give them courage, while Greek athletes believed it to be a power booster. Fast forward to today, and it’s easy to see why fennel continues to captivate. - Fennel seeds contain over 20 % of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. Vitamin C fights free radicals, slowing down skin aging. There are other common plants with a much higher vitamin C content though

- Potassium plays many roles in bodily functions. Since I am talking about skin, potassium keeps the skin hydrated. A lack of potassium can make skin dry and flaky. So if you are not including fennel in your diet, be sure to eat plenty of bananas.  fennel bulb is mostly water meaning it has added hydrating benefits. 

- Fennel seeds contain 23% of your recommended daily intake of fibre. You should consume 30g of fibre daily and fennel contains 7grams. Fibre aids digestion, promoting skin clarity. As a vegetable goes, fennel is not likely to have any side effects unless you eat/drink a lot of it. I mean A LOT. So unless you are involved in some kind of fennel eating competition, you should be fine. If you are pregnant, ask your doctor.

The best way to find this out is to try it yourself.  Depends on the type of fennel it has a mild to strong aniseed flavour.

People eat Florence fennel as a vegetable because it has the well-known bulbous base.  People use other types of fennel as a herb.
